Logitech Wireless Guitar, Premiere Edition Features Wood Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, Metal Frets, Gig Bag

Logitech today announced the Logitech® Wireless Guitar Controller, Premiere Edition for the PLAYSTATION®3 and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems – enabling gamers to play like a rock star. The premiere edition of the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller is the first in Logitech’s planned line of premium peripherals for the world’s best-selling music-based video game franchise. The guitar is licensed by Activision Publishing, Inc. for all Guitar Hero® games, including the highly anticipated Guitar Hero® World Tour. Featuring authentic materials – including a wood neck, a rosewood fingerboard and metal frets – the Wireless Guitar Controller is for gamers who truly want to flex their Star Power.

“There’s no better feeling than being the guy with the best instrument when you walk into your friend’s house to jam on Guitar Hero,” said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming. “We designed this guitar for that experience. From the humbucker to the metal frets, the whammy bar to the metal tuners, the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller gives you the credibility you rightfully deserve.”

To provide even more realism for those who love to jam on Guitar Hero, the premiere edition of the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller uses the authentic materials you’d expect to see on a real rock guitar. In addition to the metal frets and metal tuning peg handles, the rosewood fingerboard and wood neck, Logitech’s design offers the one-piece contoured shape preferred by many of the world’s leading rock guitarists. To match the wood neck, the Wireless Guitar Controller features a crimson body.

“As the leading producer of peripheral devices, Logitech is delivering on its promise to provide high-quality, premium guitars for our number one franchise,” said Charles Huang, vice president business development for RedOctane. “With this new controller, Logitech is giving Guitar Hero fans the opportunity to unleash their inner rock stars in a new, authentic way.”

To minimize button noise, Logitech uses rubber dome technology on the fret board controls, the same material used in its award-winning keyboards. The guitar controller also incorporates a New Touch-Sensitive Neck Slider, located so strumming is not always necessary to rack up the points. Additionally, the Neck Slider can be used in Guitar Hero World Tour’s new Music Studio to create an even wider away of sounds.

So you’ll be free to go where the music moves you, the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller uses 2.4 GHz wireless technology to provide a range of up to 30 feet from the console. Just plug the USB receiver into the console and you’re ready to rock. In addition, a gig bag protects your guitar when you’re on the road and provides pocket space for your game discs and wireless receivers. Offering hundreds of hours of battery life, the Wireless Guitar Controller gives you enough juice to perform a festival’s worth of hits, encores included. The Wireless Guitar Controller requires two AA batteries to operate.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller, Premiere Edition is expected to be available in the U.S. in December for a suggested retail price of $249.99 (U.S.).

About Guitar Hero World Tour

When the house lights go down this fall, a new generation of guitarists, drummers and fearless frontmen will come together and rock with Guitar Hero World Tour. The latest installment in the best-selling video game franchise of 2007, Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero’s signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines the most advanced wireless controllers with new revolutionary online and offline gameplay modes including Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands,” which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online for the first time ever.

Aeropostale is hoping to drive traffic to its 770 retail stores with a new CD and T-shirt promotion in collaboration with pop rock band Plain White T’s.

Starting Sept. 23, the New York-based casual apparel retailer will give out a commemorative T-shirt to shoppers who purchase the band’s new Big Bad World album, which comes out the same day. The T-shirts, retailing for $15.50, will be distributed through Oct. 12. According to Aeropostale, there are more than 50,000 tees in stock.

Scott Birnbaum, Aeropostale’s svp of marketing, said the retailer is always looking to partner with companies or bands that fit the demographic it sells to—that is, high school teenagers. “If you look at the music genre, we’re much more pop rock as a [retailer]. It’s what our kids listen to,” he said.

The promotion also includes free downloads of the song “Love at 10th Sight” by Plain White T’s. (The band is best known for its single “Hey There Delilah,” released in 2006.) To redeem the online offer, consumers must try on a pair of Aero jeans at a retail location starting today through Oct. 12.

This is the second time Aeropostale has partnered with a rock group, having previously collaborated with Fall Out Boy on a similar promotion. Aeropostale gave away free T-shirts with each purchase of Fall Out Boy’s Infinity On High album. Birnbaum said the company plans to form more music deals in the future.

Aeropostale spent $1.4 million on advertising in 2007, and $400,000 through June of this year, excluding online, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Jim Wisner, a retail and marketing expert at Wisner Marketing Group in Libertyville, Ill., said the Plain White T’s promotion is a way for the band to expand distribution into a non-traditional channel. He added, “What you’re giving away is really a billboard. It’s saying: ‘Come in and buy the album and by the way, as a reward, you get to advertise it to everyone else.’”

Fear is an overwhelming emotion that debilitates its victims, rendering them helpless. Fear is a common emotion when you line up against Randy Moss number 81 of the Patriots. Your tongue grows heavy, you break into cold sweats, your legs feel like you’re running in sand. Fear is what every NFL cornerback experiences trying to stop Randy Moss on Sundays. Getting “Mossed” is a phenomenon that happened with frequent regularity to unsuspecting defensive backs in the NFL last season as Randy Moss went out and grabbed a league record 23 touchdown passes.

Coinciding with Randy Moss’s first game of the NFL season on September 7, Pony will unveil nationally their new Moss inspired marketing campaign and a new enhanced company website at www.pony.com. Pony wants to turn the All-World wide receiver’s last name into a verb. The campaign will ask America “Can You Moss?” Moss has the rare athletic ability to make his peers look foolish on the football field and Pony wants to make “Can You Moss?” a part of everyday vernacular. The concept grew organically online at Youtube.com where visitors can view a slew of action videos of Randy and others “Mossing around with the kids themselves pushing the slogan, “You Got Mossed.” Pony will publicize “Can You Moss” in targeted television buys, print and online ads and content driven virally and further legitimizes that Pony is “Back In The Game” with Randy Moss as the companies headlining athlete.

“When we signed Randy Moss, the record-setting wide receiver from the New England Patriots, earlier this year it marked our commitment to loyalists of the Pony brand and showed we were serious in our quest to get back in the game,” commented Kevin Wulff, Chief Executive Officer for Pony International. “We are extremely confident our Pony Moss football shoes will give Randy the best chance to “Moss” his way through the league’s defenses and drive opposing coaches crazy.”

“Pony will be launching a multi-faceted, innovative, national marketing campaign utilizing Randy Moss in traditional, non-traditional and digital media to drive consumer awareness of its creative messaging,” added Colin Brickley, Director of Sports Marketing at Pony International. “The “Can You Moss” initiative represents Randy Moss’s first solo national marketing campaign and is inspired by an organic movement that currently exists among our target consumer.”

Fresh off of Moss’s historic deal with the iconic athletic shoe company, Pony International, the company is now asking every pee wee, high school or college football player or weekend warrior if they “Can Moss”. Players can find amusing clips of Randy Moss destroying defenses or “Mossing” with kids on Youtube.com or post their own videos online. More information on Pony’s “Can You Moss?” campaign is available at www.pony.com.

“Every time I line up I look to see how I can exploit my opponent. Getting “Mossed” should be part of their game plan. I can’t wait to get on the field with my new Pony Moss football cleats and give those defensive backs fits,” added Randy Moss, wide receiver for the New England Patriots. “My goal was to make a Pony football cleat that the kids would want to wear and to “Moss” their competition. I love the way Pony has captured my style and made a signature line of shoes that will help me to perform at the highest levels.”

The new Moss collection by Pony, available now at www.pony.com and www.eastbay.com, is a comprehensive line of performance shoes built around Randy Moss’s needs as a professional athlete on and his passions off of the field. The initial inspiration for the Moss 1 Molded Signature Cleat was derived from Moss’s love of bass fishing, which also parallels Randy’s ability to bait NFL’s defensive backs. From the design on a mackerel lure highlighted by progressively faded pattern to the carbon fiber inspired heel counter as seen on high-end fishing rods. The distinctive Moss green color used throughout the line will electrify the shoes, as Randy Moss electrifies the game.
About Pony

Pony was founded in 1972 and quickly became one the most distinctive Sports brands in the world. Among the many athletes who wore Pony shoes were Pele, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Darryl Dawkins, Spud Webb, Dan Marino, Lawrence Taylor, Reggie Jackson, and Tracy Austin. Pony is a designer, distributor, and marketer of high performance and casual athletic footwear and apparel for men, women, and children utilizing the tagline “Back in the Game”.
“If Dorothy were living in the 21st century, what would she wear?” was the question answered by The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection, a creative re-interpretation of one of film’s most iconic and revered symbols which has captured the hearts and imaginations of people the world over. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz in 2009, Warner Bros. Consumer Products in partnership with CRYSTALLIZED™ — Swarovski Elements, invited the world’s top shoe designers to reinterpret Dorothy’s iconic Ruby Slippers for modern times.

To kick-off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection was officially unveiled to celebrities and “fashionistas” on September 4 at an in-store gala event at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City in their famous 10022-SHOE — the designer shoe salon that’s so big it has its own zip code. The red carpet event was attended by such notables as Lindsay Price, Molly Sims, Lorraine Bracco, Nina Garcia, Stuart Weitzman, Betsey Johnson, Nigel Barker, Gloria Reuben, Bobby Flay, Stephanie March, Perrey Reeves, Pamela Roland and Wendy Williams.

Designers, including A. Testoni, Abaete, Alberta Ferretti Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi, and Tuleh, were granted creative license and access to unlimited CRYSTALLIZED™ — Swarovski Elements to re-imagine Dorothy’s design with their own modern vision of the sparkling Ruby Slipper.

“The Wizard of Oz is a timeless classic which has touched people of all ages and will never go out of style,” said Brad Globe, President, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “What better way to celebrate the film’s 70th Anniversary than appearing front and center at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, sharing with fans these beautiful new designs of Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers.”

Beginning today, September 5, the Collection will also be showcased at an incredible installation surrounding the famed fountain area at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s Bryant Park tents.

After Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week wraps, the Ruby Slipper Collection will make an appearance at Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation’s Kids for Kids Family Carnival in New York City’s Park Avenue Armory Building on September 20. Additional stops for the Collection include Miami Art Week to coincide with Art Basel Miami Beach December 4-8th. Multiple public viewings are planned throughout 2009.

Following a year of being highlighted at special events around the country, the complete and original The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection will be auctioned at a gala event in fall 2009 with the proceeds benefiting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Guests attending the event received a special collection of The Wizard of Oz PhotoStamps, developed by Warner Bros. Consumer Products in collaboration with Stamps.com. The Wizard of Oz PhotoStamps sheets will sell for $19.99 at PhotoStamps.com, and all net proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Leading Technology Conference Continues to Highlight the Best in Entrepreneurship from Around the World

The DEMO conferences, known for launching some the world’s biggest technology products, will kickoff this Sunday with 72 new products poised to launch onstage in just 72 hours. Beginning its 19th year of supporting innovation, DEMOfall 08 will highlight products from more than 11 countries and 19 states. Known as the conference that launched products from Google, Apple, Palm, Intel, Yahoo!, and TiVo, the fall conference will host one of its largest attendances of journalists, investors, and business professionals in its history. DEMOfall 08 is being held from September 7 - 9 at the Sheraton San Diego. To learn more about the event and register to attend visit http://www.demo.com/.

“Every DEMO we strive to identify the companies that will defy all the odds and have significant impact in the technology markets. Ours is a year-long process that culminates in 72 hours of products that are more than disruptive; they change the rules of the game as we know it,” said Chris Shipley, product analyst and executive producer of the DEMO conferences. “I am very excited to unveil the class of DEMOfall 08. They are innovative, they are important, they are fun, and they represent the future products and solutions we all will be using soon.”

The DEMO conferences are held twice a year requiring the DEMO team to hold in-depth interviews with more than 1,000 companies ready to launch new products at the event. This rigorous process ensures that DEMOfall 08 attendees will, for the first time, see new products from around the globe including Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Taiwan. Some of the products launching at DEMOfall 08 include:

MyDocs is essentially a dashboard for users’ documents, not unlike an online version of Windows’ My Documents folder. Users can skim through their files as thumbnails, search by keyword, sort each document into online folders, and modify each doc’s privacy settings. Most impressive is MyDoc’s Preview feature, which allows users to rapidly skim through full versions of their documents using Docstoc’s Flash-based Document viewer. In Preview mode, Docstoc displays a list of thumbnails down a sidebar and presents the document itself as part of the main window, allowing users to quickly browse through their documents. In practice this worked surprisingly well - documents opened within a few seconds (oftentimes faster than they would on the desktop), making MyDocs a viable alternative to the tradional My Documents Folder.

Doodle, the Leading Online Scheduling Service, Releases a Facebook Application Which Allows the Facebook Community to Easily Schedule Events

Doodle announced today that it also provides its scheduling services to the Facebook community. The Doodle Facebook application allows users to easily find the best date and time for any kind of group event; examples include conference calls, family BBQs, business lunches, and team meetings.

Facebook users who have added the Doodle application can poll their friends for a date or time in a few simple steps. Invitations to participate in a poll can be sent via Facebook’s messaging system. And even people without a Facebook account can participate in the poll upon invitation by e-mail.

Doodle is confident that event scheduling will be a success within Facebook as well. “Doodle is a great extension to Facebook,” says Reto Laemmler, Vice President of End-User Products at Doodle. “While Facebook’s current features are good for managing events given a date, Doodle is the easiest, most efficient way to find the best date or time for a group event. And it is the first application to add this functionality to Facebook. We’re excited to find out how much the Facebook community will like the new Doodle application.”

About Doodle

Doodle is the leading online scheduling service (according to traffic comparison services like Alexa, Compete, and Google Trends) and is available in 25 languages. Doodle is provided by Zurich, Switzerland based Doodle AG that focuses on delivering a very simple and highly usable service which is free for end users. It requires no registration, no download, and no installation. Doodle AG’s main revenue streams are advertising and hosted, branded services for organizations.

Doodle was invented and first implemented in 2003 by Michael Naf, a Swiss computer scientist, to meet a personal need: finding a date and time to have dinner with several friends at once; a process in which e-mail messages and phone calls repeatedly failed. To also meet the needs of the fast growing user base, Michael decided to professionalize Doodle and founded Doodle AG in 2007 together with Paul E. Sevinc, a Swiss electrical engineer.

Reto Laemmler, Vice President of End-User Products and lead engineer of the Facebook integration, joined Doodle in early 2008. As the founder and former CEO of Xcellery, a Silicon Valley based company which he sold to Expresso Corp. in 2007, he is very experienced in building successful web-based applications and uses his background to drive the future development of Doodle.
